With the two cult leaders, Narthus and Ivlis, slain, it was time for the party to confront Oggdug's brother. Once they realized he was turned undead from the cultists dark magic they knew they had no choice other than to slay him. With expert combat prowess they moved in and surrounded the creature and the battle moved ahead predictably. With a snicker snack of the rogue's rapier that normalcy shattered along with the zombie ogre's abdomen and out tumbled an exasperated Tiefling. At the same moment an Orc adventurer charged into the fray from the cave entrance and began ferociously attacking. The party, now numbering seven, did not wait for an explanation and crashed into the ogre zombie with overwhelming force. With little fanfare the adventurers agreed to continue together and cleared out the last two rooms of this evil shrine. Four undead abominations in the forms of zombies proved little match for the force of the newly formed fellowship. Not risking the journey back to the Keep late in the day, they rested once more in the former chambers of Ivlis.
Treasure gained: Friendship (+2 party members)
The party continued this adventuring day by turning back from the corner where they spotted Oggdug's brother. Exploring further into the befouled cave they stumbled into the chambers of the true sect leader, Ivlis. Again utilizing surprise and stealth into vicious lethality, the party overwhelmed Ivlis before any true powers could be summoned forth. Searching through the personal quarters of the cult leader proved valuable and the party ended their day resting in the 'luxury' of the slain Ivlis.
Treasure gained: Red garnet, Iron Horn of Valhalla, Warhammer of Thunderbolts
Waking up in the caves instead of the comfort of the Keep's environs did not slow down the party's progress. Quickly searching the owlbear nest revealed nothing more than scraps, but it did not discourage further exploration of the cave. Just past the nesting area, a room full of cultists was caught by surprise and quickly dispatched. Two stairways in opposite directions faced the party next and they chose to ascend stairs upward into an entirely different cave. Exiting the stairs revealed a purple curtain. Sneaking past the curtain revealed a foul ceremony underway being perpetrated by a cult leader. Utilizing equal surprise and stealth, the party dispatched him and continued down a nearby hallway. Peering around the corner revealed their intended quarry - Oggdug's lost brother.
Treasure gained: Scraps from an Owlbear's nest
The party set out from the Keep freshly rested and equipped. They spent a restless day climbing and exploring the caves befriending an ogre mercenary named Oggdug (& his strange dragon companion), clearing a cave of Kobolds and their Copper Dragon wyrmling (and relieving them of their treasures), and ending this packed day of adventure in the cave Oggdug warned them about - in search of his lost brother. Instead they discovered grey oozes and a sleepy owlbear finishing the day sleeping in a barricaded room upwind of the nest.
Treasure gained: Dread Helm, 10G each party member, 2 Giant Centipede pincers, Cloak of Elvenkind
After visiting shops around the Keep and engaging in some commerce and hitting the tavern to place in the Chug Champion contest Atreyu, Anari and the rest of the party set out for the Caves of Chaos. They recovered a waylaid dwarf named Vinx and discovered an anhanced Longsword in the process. Happening upon what could only be described as a Goblin birthday party, the adventurers were able to negotiate in exchange for extermination of a nearby giant spider. The party returned to the Keep in triumph with the Goblins left to continue their partying.
Treasure gained: Longsword +1
The party formed on the road to the Keep, but were quickly ambushed by a dandy bandit calling himself Pral. Seeing his foes dispatched was enough to cause his retreat and the party entered into the Keep without much fanfare. Everyone stayed at the inn except for Narse who slept in the adjoining barn.
